FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy
Below is a list of frequently asked questions about therapy as they pertain to my practice. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Please contact me by phone at 832-878-2936 or email me at [email protected].
What to expect on your first session?
The first session is a “get to know” each other session. We will discuss what present issues you are having, what you would like to get out of therapy, and how therapy can help you. Family history and relationship history may be collected as well. For sex therapy, a full comprehensive sexual history will also be collected that may take 1-2 sessions depending on the issue.
How long and how often will I have to come to therapy?
Normally, it can take anywhere from 8-10 sessions depending on what your goals are in therapy. This is not set in stone. Some clients may come less or more. Some clients come once a week while others may come every other week or monthly, depending on their comfort level.
Do you offer free consultations?
Finding a therapist can be really stressful and confusing. It is really important to take your time and find someone who understands what you are going through. For this reason, I do offer, upon request, a free 15-20 minute consultation on the phone or in person to discuss your needs in therapy and to determine if I am the right therapist for you.
What if you are not the right therapist for me?
This is absolutely no problem. If for some reason I cannot help you, I will provide referrals to other therapists who may be able to help. It is important to me that you get the help you deserve and need.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, I do not take insurance, however depending on your plan you may be qualified for reimbursement using out of network benefits. After you confirm with your insurance company, I can provide you with a receipt with necessary information for you to submit.
